Painting at home!

istock_000004015841xsmall.jpgPainting at home” has to be one of the funnest things to do now a days, simply because what you are able to do is create any type of atmosphere you want to create just by choosing different colors, and there is so many to chose from. There are loud vibrant colors to bring life and energy to a room and then there is the soft earth tones which leave to and your guests feeling relaxed. I love the earth tone colors, I want everyone who comes to my house to feel like they are at the cottage just chilling out. That atmosphere is also great for me when I have a bad day at work I can just come home and the mood is all ready set for me to forget my day.

I know what your thinking now too, if your guests are so relaxed how do you get rid of them at the end of the night? Well I offset my comfortable atmosphere with furniture that is so not comfortable so they never stay to long. Leather couches are great to look at but the right one is not so great to sit on for long periods of time, mine is good for a few hours at most which is great for me. I can have a nice night with some company over but I know the night will end at some point. I also use to have a bad habit of sleeping on the couch so the leather idea was to help me break that habit, and it worked.

Picking the right colors is sometimes not the easiest thing to do. Knowing how to tie everything together so it flows can sometimes be hard to pull off. This is where an interior designer can really help you out, but if you don’t want to go that way the best tip I can give you is to buy what ever furniture you want first and let those pieces pick your colors for you. Dark furniture can set the mood for a nice earth tone type of paint job and a more modern style of furniture can give you the option of going with a very contemporary theme.

It is all up to you!
